Colorado duo 3OH!3 let friend Kris Barman remix their “You’re Gonna Love This” single for the upcoming Take Action charity compilation, and the revamped track is premiering exclusively on Billboard. Listen below.
The “Wuki” remix of the song lands alongside releases by The Used, All Time Low, Bad Religion and more on Take Action’s 11th compilation album, with proceeds benefitting the It Gets Better Project and other Sub City charities.
“It’s a great cause,” said 3OH!3’s Nathaniel Motte of the organization, which also kicks off a Take Action Tour featuring headliner the Used on Jan. 11, 2013. “We’re always looking for ways to positively affect the world around us, and making music and putting smiles on peoples faces is how we’re able to do that so far.”
The “Wuki” remix, created by InnerPartySystem’s Kris Barman, is one of three remixed versions of the song. The other two, mixed by InnerPartySystem’s Jesse Cronan and Jared Piccone (Spacebrotherr) are still in 3OH!3’s back pocket, Motte said.
“It’s strange in the sense that they do a lot of stuff that you would never do,” he added of handing his music over to another artist for a remix, “but that’s also why it’s cool.”
“You’re Gonna Love This” is the first single of 3OH!3’s upcoming “Omens” album, which was originally slated for 2012, but is now expected for release in early 2013. “It hearkens back to some of our old material,” Motte said of the track, which was released in September and paired with a video, featuring Motte and bandmate Sean Foreman gambling at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
“We were gonna take the whole video budget and put it on black on roulette and have that be the video — whether we won or lost,” he laughed, saying that they decided against taking the risk, since it’s “not really a 50/50 chance” when you bet on roulette.
