After attending Howard University, music mogul Sean ” Diddy” Combs, then known as Puffy, landed an internship at Uptown Records, eventually becoming Vice President of the company. But after getting fired a couple of years later, he founded his own label, Bad Boy Entertainment.
In a short four years, the company would go on to launch the careers of and sign some of hip-hop and R&B music’s biggest stars at the time, including Craig Mack, Total, 112 and the late, great Notorious B.I.G. Bad Boy not only sold millions of records worth of recordings, but by 1995 it had landed an alleged multi-million dollar deal with Arista Records for distribution.
Diddy’s success with Bad Boy escalated when B.I.G. emerged as one of the best rappers of all times after releasing his LP, “Ready To Die.” Throughout the years, Diddy would go on to sign other renown rappers, including Lil Kim and Mase, among others.
