Marshmello delivered a star-studded medley of his two biggest hits to close out the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards.
The masked DJ/producer took to the piano for a stripped-down, acoustic version of “FRIENDS” with English singer Anne-Marie before heading to a separate stage to play the drum pads on his current top-five hit, “Happier,” with Bastille.
As the first chorus of “Happier” hit, beach balls imprinted with Marshmello’s smiling face dropped from the ceiling to the delight of attendees. Cheers and confetti greeted Bastille’s Dan Smith as he embraced Marshmello following the song’s finale.
The anonymous artist also took home the award for Best Electronic earlier in the broadcast, beating out The Chainsmokers, Martin Garrix and David Guetta.
