Vampires are cool, but even Dracula needs to get with the times. You can only listen to so much organ music before you’d kill for a beat. If vampires were real in 2019, we bet they’d love the vibe on 1788-L and Deathpact’s new tune “Malfunkt.” It takes the more ominous side of classical and adds a lot of digital bite with hard glitches, booming drums and anxiety-inducing noise.
The track lands somewhere between classic Wolfgang Gartner and face-crunching dubstep, but it becomes something new in the process. It also works well to soundtrack your next hacker mission, maybe a dangerous quest to stop an anarchic band of rebels in an urban dystopian future, throw it on the playlist for your next fancy cybergoth shindig. Get creative with it.
“Malfunkt” is the first track off 1788-L’s forthcoming EP Synthetik, set for release on Deadbeats Friday, April 26.
The lead single is available everywhere Friday, April 5, but you can get weird with “Malfunkt” below a day early, exclusively on Billboard Dance.
