Gene Autry lets “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” guide him back to the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated Dec. 14), as the Christmas carol mounts the No. 44 spot.
The last time the Hot 100 recalled “the most famous reindeer of all” was Jan. 5, 2019, when the jingle dashed all the way to No. 16 for its peak position. The song made its first appearance on the chart Dec. 23, 2018; when it was originally released back in 1949, the Hot 100 didn’t even exist yet.
Check out the lyrics below.
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say
“Rudolph, with your nose so bright
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee
“Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
You’ll go down in history”
