Camila Cabello’s “Liar” debuts at No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (dated Sept. 21), which was part of her double-single release alongside “Shameless.” According to her interview with 97.1 AMP Radio, “Liar” debunks the lie that she didn’t have feelings for a certain person (hint, hint: Shawn Mendes).
“I didn’t wanna like him, because I was scared,” she revealed. “‘Liar’ is almost like making fun of that, making fun of myself. Calling yourself out. It’s like you see an ex or whatever at a party and you’re like, ‘I don’t like him anymore, I don’t like him anymore.’ And then he says hi to you and you’re like, ‘Shit, I like him!’”
Its snazzy samples — Lionel Richie’s 1983 No. 1-hit “All Night Long (All Night)” and Ace of Base’s 1992 No.2-track “All That She Wants” — give the pop tune a jazzy flair.
