Sofía Reyes is joining forces with Honey Bunches of Oats to launch a campaign dedicated to help the next generation of Latin musicians. The initiative, called “Voces con dedicación” (Voices with dedication) will award $10,000 to five young Hispanics who are looking to pursue a musical career.
The “Solo Yo” singer will select winners across the nation who are actively creating and performing music on the Internet. Besides the financial support, the recipients will have the opportunity to perform live at a concert in their hometown.
“As a young artist who was given her ‘big break’ through my dedication, I am constantly scouring the web to find new amazing talent, and look forward to publicly recognizing these very deserving artists,” the chart-topping artist said in a statement.
“We’ve selected Sofía to identify these kids, as she knows what it takes to make it, and her dedication and passion that led her to get to where she is at such a young age perfectly embodies the spirit of our campaign,” said Melissa Saldana-Chase of Post Consumer Brands.
Back in April, the Mexican singer and songwriter became the first solo lead female act to hit No. 1 on the Latin Pop Songs chart in five years with her track “Solo Yo” featuring Prince Royce. “Being No. 1 on Billboard means a lot, as it’s the result of the hard work and love that my team and I put in daily,” Reyes said.
Reyes recently collaborated with EDM group Cash Cash on their single “How to Love.” According to a Twitter post, a Spanish version of the song is in the works.
