Snoop Dogg is the surprising choice as the headliner of this year’s Calibash, the annual Los Angeles event aimed at young Latinos that organizer SBS calls the “leading Latin urban music concert in Los Angeles.”
Hosted by SBS radio station MEGA 96.3 FM and produced by AEG Live, the ninth annual Calibash takes place Jan. 24 at the Staples Center in L.A.
“Hailing from Los Angeles, just like Calibash, Snoop Dogg conquered the music world and transformed rap and hip-hop music with his signature sounds and stage presence,” reads the announcement from the promoters, referring to the choice of the West Coast rapper as headliner.
As in years past, the line up is a list of Latin hit-makers, including J Balvin, Prince Royce, Nicky Jam, Plan B, Yandel, Farruko, Becky G, and J. Alvarez, as well as Lil Jon, an artist well known to Latino crowds who has collaborated with Pitbull and Daddy Yankee.
Last year’s sold-out concert was headlined by Pitbull.
