Abraham “A.B.” Quintanilla III, brother of the late Selena Quintanilla, is on August’s Top 10 Most Wanted list from the Nueces County Sheriff’s office in Texas. The 53-year-old has been charged for contempt of court and nonpayment of child support, according to a Facebook post from the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office.
Quintanilla reportedly has seven children and is still at large, having deleted all of his social media accounts. The department is offering a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of any of the 10 felony offenders.
However, in an interview posted today on Spanish language site TVynovelas.com, Quintanilla denied doing anything wrong, claiming that putting him among the Top 10 Most Wanted was “totally unfair.”
“My issue is a family court issue, and I’m grouped together with people who have done bad things. I don’t deserve this.”
In the same interview, Quintanilla said he planned to return to Texas, which he called his “home.”
“I have seven children with different women and two marriages,” he said. “Why is it that only one is doing this? […] They did this to me when I opened a high-end disco and they reported on it when I closed it, because I’m a well-knwon person.”
A.B. was a member of his sister’s group Selena y Los Dinos, and wrote most of Selena’s biggest hits. After his sister’s death, A.B. would go on to become a star in his own right, recording with his group the Kumbia Kings. He is currently signed to indie label Del Records. Del had no comment regarding the wanted notice.
