It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since Selena Quintanilla’s shocking death. The Queen of Tejano music, who was only 23 at the time of her murder, became one of the most celebrated Mexican-American performers in history with her songs, amazing talent, charisma, personality and humility.
That is why a quarter century after her death, her legacy is still going strong. To honor her, fans took to social media with messages and photos remembering the star on March 31, the anniversary of her passing.
“Thank you for sharing your gift with the world Selena Quintanilla-Pérez,” tweeted a fan called Tati, while the user Paige said, “may her smile light up the world.”

I can’t believe it’s been 25 years to the day that Selena was murdered. Such a talented singer and performer whose life was tragically cut short. One only wonders what her future would’ve been before going to that hotel in Corpus Christi to meet Yolanda Saldivar .. #SelenaForever
