Mexican pop star Sammi Sanchez recruits Colombian reggaetonero Reykon in the official premiere of “Pum Pum,” a dance floor anthem that harks back to the iconic ’90s reggae era.
“My new single ‘Pum Pum’ is basically an homage to El General’s hit song ‘Pum Pum [Mami Mami]’ from back in the early 90s,” Sanchez told Billboard. “I grew up hearing El General’s ‘Pum Pum’ song around my house as a kid so it came natural to remake it and make it current for the younger generation.”
Sanchez added: “The video was a lot of fun to shoot and Reykon was amazing to work with. He brought such great energy to the video. He’s a really sweet and down-to-earth guy; I’m looking forward to making more music with him in the future.”
Watch Sammi and Reykon put on a party with a world all its own:
For the uninitiated, El General is considered one of the fathers of reggae in Spanish.
