On Wednesday, some of the hottest names in Latin music and beyond set their mics down for the night and crossed over into a different world to show off their skills on the basketball court. Roc Nation Latin hosted its first Roc Da Court Celebrity Basketball Game in Las Vegas, featuring a star-studded roster of participants such as Diplo, DJ Snake, will.i.am, Benny Blanco, Nohemy and more.
“It’s exciting to be able to bring a different experience to the Latin industry, and more importantly, to use our influence to spread the message of the great work the Boys & Girls club is doing,” Lex Borrero, executive vice president and head of Roc Nation Latin, said via press release. “I’m thankful to all of my celebrity friends, media, industry partners, and our incredible team at Roc, Puma, and Saints and Winner for helping us make last night a tremendous success.”
Although both sides of the court were lined with impressive talent, it was Coach DJ Snake who guided his team, La Familia, to victory, defeating Mozart La Para’s Team Combo squad in a 57-to-37 match. Members of the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas cheered on as Miky Woodz led Team Familia to their triumph by scoring a total of 33 points, later on grabbing the well-deserved MVP title to top off the exciting night.
Roc Da Court’s mission aims to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Las Vegas. Win or lose, it was all fun and games, as Rauw Alejandro of Team Combo teased his opponent and friend, MVP Miky Woodz, in a post-game Instagram video caption (translation: “[Miky Woodz] didn’t guard me because he was scared”).
Many of the stars in Las Vegas for Billboard Latin Music Week, which wraps Thursday night (April 25) with the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
