Mexican band Reik has renewed its contract with Sony Music México in alliance with Sony Music Latin, Billboard has learned. The agreement will continue developing the group’s international career.
“We are convinced that this new era will be very fruitful for all of us,” Roberto López, president of Sony Music México, says in a press release. “The renewal of the contract with Reik, now in alliance with our sister label, US Latin company, is a cause for pride and celebration.”
Jesus Navarro, Reik’s lead singer, added, “Being a Sony artist is a beautiful experience. As we keep growing in this industry and gaining perspective, we understand just what a big deal it is. We’ve been part of the Sony family since we started working 15 years ago.”
Guitarist and backing vocalist Julio Ramírez says Sony has always believed in Reik: “We feel proud to consider Sony our family and as key allies in what has become a solid career. We’ve worked together as a team through hits and flops without giving up.”
“We’re aware of how fortunate we are to have a successful career with a solid foundation that’s becoming more secure,” concluded guitarist Bibi Marín.
This year, Reik won the Latin pop song of the year prize at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards for “Me Niego,” featuring Ozuna & Wisin. The band has performed at important venues in Mexico, United States, Spain and Latin America. Also, during the past two years the trio has collaborated with Maluma, Super Junior, Nicky Jam, Cristian Castro, Ozuna, Wisin & Yandel and Sebastián Yatra, among others. A song with J Balvin will be released soon.
“Their musicianship and songwriting skills, along with the incomparable voice of Jesús, have made them recognized beyond Latin music. In this new era, it’s an honor for our US Latin team to be working hand-in-hand with Sony Music México to take Reik to new heights,” Alex Gallardo, president of Sony Music US Latin, concluded.
