Prince Royce and Hornitos Tequila are teaming up to help aspiring musicians take their shot in the music industry and all for a good cause, Billboard can exclusively announce Tuesday (June 11).
As part of the brand’s “A Shot Worth Taking” campaign, the bachata crooner, along with the participation of League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), is giving fans an opportunity to win one of three mentoring experiences that propel the winners’ music career to the next level.
“The grand prize winner gets to fly to Miami, come hang out with me in the studio, and ask me questions,” Prince Royce says to Billboard. “I never had anyone to mentor me, tell me the ins and outs of the industry. Nothing great ever happens without taking a shot. It’s what I did growing up. I’m my No. 1 fan, honestly and if you don’t believe in yourself, who else will?”
In celebration of the partnership, Royce recalled a time in his career when he took a shot in the music industry. “I remember working in a cell phone store and I had all this money saved up to buy a car but instead I used it to make my first album,” he shares. “That was definitely a shot, definitely a risk. I take them all the time. Right now I’m working on my next album called ‘Alter Ego,’ which I think it’s my most ambitious album yet. With every song and every album, I take a risk. I’m always taking shots that are risky but are worth it in the end.”
Anyone in the U.S. 21 and older can join the contest by making a donation of $10 or more to LULAC, Institute, the nation’s largest and oldest Hispanic civil rights organization. The campaign will live on Prizeo.com, a charity-based online platform that connects consumers with celebrities to deliver unique experiences.
