Things kicked off — differently. Yes, that was Daddy Yankee at the piano, playing the introductory chords and singing the opening slow verses.
Then, the shot opened up to reveal Anthony, his full band and a slew of dancers in one of the most exciting performances of the evening.
Producer Sergio George at the piano led the collaboration, the first between the two Puerto Rican powerhouses, who belted out heartbreak lyrics over an uptempo dance beat.
“[‘De Vuelta Pa’ La Vuelta’] has that salsa sound from the barrio that I’ve always been a fan of,” Daddy Yankee said about the song. “I was able to fuse that with my urbano essence and Marc Anthony’s world with the orchestra and the instruments. We made it happen.”
The 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro aired live Feb. 18, from Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena via Univision with Chiquinquirá Delgado, José Ron and Yuri as hosts of the three-hour show.
