After devoting his last album to the Caribbean, pianist Arthur Hanlon has traveled the world to find the sounds for a new project called Viajero (Traveler). Viajero will be released by Sony Music Latin in March after Hanlon performs a series of intimate solo concerts in the U.S.
The music of Viajero, which also includes a DVD documenting Hanlon’s travels, will be previewed during his intimate U.S. tour (presented by AEG Live), which will kick off at the Highline Ballroom in New York City on Jan. 24 and continue at the Mint in Los Angeles on Jan. 27. Additional Miami dates will be announced soon. Tickets go on sale today (Dec. 4) at www.axs.com (L.A. show), www.ticketweb.com (NY show) and www.arthurhanlon.com.
Viajero follows-up to the landmark Encanto del Caribe (Caribbean Enchantment), a live concert filmed at Castillo San Cristobal in Puerto Rico which aired on public television and featured guest artists Marc Anthony, Laura Pausini, Natalia Jimenez, Bernie Williams, the late Cheo Feliciano and Ana Isabelle. In his new set, Hanlon has gathered the best songs and sounds from countries that include Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
