Ahead of its initial premiere date of Dec. 22, Ozuna drops his highly awaited video for “La Modelo,” featuring rapper Cardi B.
“I’ve done a lot of collabs, but most of the time, it’s me on someone else’s track,” Ozuna told Billboard earlier this week. “I’d never brought someone like Cardi B into my own music. When you hear, you’ll say: ‘Wow, that woman is amazing, in English and in Spanish. That to me is the real crossover: a mainstream artist singing in Spanish.”
The pair met when Cardi, née Belcalis Almanzar, went to see Ozuna live at a small show in New York City’s La Boom. Months later, the breakout reggaetonero reached out to the “Bodak Yellow” artist about a song he just knew she would be perfect for.
In the end, they took to Jamaica for the song’s vibrantly kaleidoscopic visual, which oozes tropical goodness, a concept Ozuna describes as “Jamaican dancehall, brought to the club.”
