The new video for Orishas‘ comeback song “Cuba Isla Bella” features some of the island’s best-known musicians, as well as sweeping views of the Cuban countryside and snapshots of life on Havana’s streets.
While the video, directed by Joshua Morin and Orisha’s Yotuel, includes its share of typical images of old cars, Cuban old-timers, and tobacco rollers, it also captures garbage spilled on the street, and graveyards that reflect the loved ones lost while the band members (and, more symbolically, Cuban exiles) were away from the island. There is dancing in the streets and some awesome young girls playing bata drums.
Some of the most affecting parts of this clip for Orishas’ emotional first outing after announcing their reunion could be the ones that capture the group and their guest artists recording the song.
Orishas will play a series of U.S. concerts in August and September, marking their first tour together in seven years.
