The Puerto Rican reggaetonero appeared first on stage alongside a large letter “X” prop. To the crowd’s surprise, Balvin was on the other side and immediately joined his longtime friend. The audience roared when the duo did their signature two-step dance in sync.
DJ Steve Aoki then joined the stage in a quick change of scenery to perform his and Nicky Jam’s hit, “Jaleo,” currently No. 21 on the Latin Airplay charts. A swarm of dancers in matching attire came from the crowd’s direction, very much similar to Eminem’s legendary 2000 VMAs performance of “The Real Slim Shady.”
The two-song medley was energetic and bold — like something out of a Latin nightclub.
