Shakira’s first single from her upcoming studio album will be released in January, Sony Music Entertainment has announced.
The album, the superstar’s first on Sony label RCA, is set for an early 2014 release. Shakira has said in interviews that the new recording, her first since 2010’s “Sale el Sol,” is dedicated to Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, her partner and the father of her son Milan.
The title of the single and the album are currently unknown — though Shakira confirmed on Twitter Dec. 8 that she has shot a video for the song with director Joseph Kahn (Mariah Carey and Miguel’s “#Beautiful,” Eminem & Rihanna’s “Love the Way You Lie”).

Though it’s currently unconfirmed, the new album is also rumored to have a duet with Rihanna.
The singer is currently in the studio, after a season as coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” to which she is slated to return in spring 2014.
Shakira appeared on the network’s “Today” show yesterday (Dec. 16) to talk about her favorite Christmas music (tropical, naturally) and giving back in the holiday season.
“My kind of holiday is with my loved ones and my son Milan,” she said. They will spend the season at home in a suburb of Barcelona.
