Natti Natasha could not believe she was the most-nominated artist of Premio Lo Nuestro 2019 when she received the news.
“I have 15 nominations and I try to explain it with words but there’s no way,” she tells Billboard, recalling she was at a video shoot and began to cry. “I’ve been working for so long with a lot of love and great team and for all that hard work to be recognized, me being a woman, means way more because it’s a million times more work but it’s so worth it for days like these.”
Natasha, who will be performing three songs at the awards show — “Justicia” with Silvestre Dangond, “No Me Acuerdo” with Thalia, and her single “Pa Mala Yo” — fessed up that her nods are thanks to her fans. “These nominations mean the support from people, from women who understand my message.”
As for her best memory with Daddy Yankee, who will receive a special tribute at Premio Lo Nuestro Thursday night (Feb. 21), the Dominican singer says it’s definitely before and after she met him.
“Before, I saw him like an icon, as the reggaeton king and I had a lot, a lot of respect for him,” she says “And after, it’s the same thing or more because he’s taught me discipline, consistency, and a lot, a lot of hard work. So, if you ask me? I admire him way more.”
