A Mariachi trumpet player blows “blow” and a cloud of powder poofs out of a guitar in the teaser for Narcos season 4.
The teaser, which confirmed the drug trade drama’s move to Mexico from Colombia, features a group of mariachis and a new version of Rodrigo Amarante’s theme song “Tuyo.”
While past Narcos seasons featured a hot soundtrack of vintage salsa and other deep Colombian grooves, expect the season 4 soundtrack to have a distinctly Mexican flavor.
“There will be tons of music from Mexico,” music supervisor Liza Richardson tells Billboard. While it’s too early for Richardson to elaborate on any specifics about the soundtrack, it will reflect the season’s focus on the Guadalajara cartel, whose origins were in the 1970s and ‘80s.
In the video, released last month, Netflix announced that actors Diego Luna and Michael Peña will have starring roles in the new season, which will be released later this year.
Meanwhile, enjoy the powdery performance of the Mariachi-tinged version of “Tuyo.”
