The most recent development, to be announced today, is a joint venture relationship with Pulse Music Group, the indie music publishing, management and music services company whose catalog of hits includes Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake” and “Roar” and Neon Trees’ “Animal.”
The partnership seeks to grow Magnus’ music publishing division and creative team and sign Latin songwriters, producers and artists. Pulse will provide exclusive worldwide music publishing administration and sync licensing services for Magnus through Pulse Publishing Administration and Hitcher Music.
Magnus, launched last year, already represents Marc Anthony, Gente de Zona, Chino y Nacho and Alejandro Sanz, among other music stars, in addition to a roster of over 60 athletes. The company had been actively looking to expand its publishing division, said CEO Michel Vega.
“Scott and Maria and the entire Pulse team impressed us from day one with their passion and commitment to expanding opportunities for Latino content creators,” said Vega in a statement, referring to Pulse co-CEO Scott Cutler and Pulse president and head of creative Maria Egan.
“This move gives Magnus full service capabilities in songwriter representation and a strong partner to help cross over our talent to the general market, film, television, commercials, and other platforms”.
“In just one year Marc and Michel have made Magnus an important force as a label and management company and are filling the void that existed for a powerful independent that can identify and develop the next generation of Latino superstars and creative talent,” said Egan in a statement. “Our publishing partnership is the product of a shared vision that strong independents, sharing creative expertise and resources can make a profound impact on global culture.”
