Marc Anthony‘s third concert at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (Aug. 28) was an emotional one, as the salsa singer broke down in tears while singing Juan Gabriel‘s “Abrazame muy fuerte,” in memory of the Mexican superstar who had passed away in the early hours of the day.
In a video shared by a fan on social media, Anthony is seen wiping the tears away and asking the audience to help him finish the song. Watch below:
In a recent interview with Billboard, the “Valió la pena” singer credited Juan Gabriel’s “Hasta que te conocí” as his inspiration. “When I heard this song, I swear I saw lights, I saw clarity,” he said. “I knew the song was going to change my life. That was it. I never recorded freestyle again.”
Anthony was featured on Gabriel’s Los Dúo 2, which peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, for a salsa version of “Yo te recuerdo.”
