On Monday (Sept. 25), Donald Trump continued his tweetstorm targeting NFL players and their teams who protest against racist police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem. In a series of posts throughout the day, the president doubled down on his comments from the weekend and asserted that his stance had nothing to do with race but is about respect.
Somewhere along the line, Marc Anthony seemingly had enough of Trump’s comments and shot him a fiery message, telling him to “shut the fuck up” about the NFL and focus on more important matters — namely, the incredible devastation caused to Puerto Rico by the category 5 Hurricane Maria last week.
Anthony — whose parents are from Puerto Rico — continued, “Do something about our people in need in #PuertoRico. We are American citizens too.” So far, Trump has done little to address the needs of the U.S. commonwealth.
?According to the Los Angeles Times, at least 16 people have been confirmed dead. HuffPost even ran the headline, “While Trump Tweeted About Sports All Weekend, Puerto Rico Dealt With ‘Apocalyptic’ Hurricane Damage.”
Mr. President shut the fuck up about NFL. Do something about our people in need in #PuertoRico. We are American citizens too.
