Maná, the Inter-American Development Bank and the foundation Selva Negra have launched a video contest inspired by the song “Dónde jugarán los niños?” in order to promote environmental protection among Latin American youth.
“The contest is an invitation to creative young people from Latin America and the Caribbean to help create the official video for this song and to spread awareness regarding climate change and its impact on the environment,” said Juan Pablo Bonilla, manager of the bank’s Climate Change and Sustainable Development Sector. “We believe that music and the creativity of our young people make a strong combination for raising ecological consciousness.”

The deadline to submit a video proposing ideas to stop climate change and help protect the environment using the iconic song is July 31. The 30 videos chosen by the committee will be featured on the contest’s website, and Maná and the IDB will choose the winner from the top 10 videos with the most likes on the page. The chosen clip will be the official video of the campaign, and the winner will travel to Washington, D.C., to present the clip during the annual Demand Solutions event.

Maná announced their partnership with the IDB back in May, saying, “We all have to do our part to both help and educate. The band hopes to be an inspiration for the millions of young people that will be the ones making the big decisions in the future.”
