Mexican rockers Maná are set to perform at Premio Lo Nuestro 2019, and during their rehearsals, the band stopped by Billboard’s station to discuss their participation in the annual ceremony, which airs Thursday night (Feb. 21) at 7 p.m. ET on Univision.
“We are here participating in Premio Lo Nuestro 2019 to perform a medley to remember the history of Maná,” says drummer Alex Gonzalez.
For the band, who have been together for more than 30 years, it is difficult to decide which songs are going to be part of the medley. “Choosing Maná songs for a medley is complicated because we have so many,” says frontman Fher Olvera. “We’re going to play songs that we haven’t played on television in a long time.”
After Premio Lo Nuestro, Maná will perform at the Venezuela Live Aid concert. “Alejandro Sanz invited us and we are always active with humanitarian causes,” says Olvera. “We have to clarify that Venezuela is free and sovereign to choose the president they want.”
