Singer Maluma earns his second No. 1 on the Latin Airplay chart as his single “El Perdedor,” featuring Yandel, hops 4-1 in its 20th charting week (dated Aug. 13). The song takes Greatest Gainer honors, swelling 40 percent in audience impressions during the tracking week ending July 31 (rising to 16.5 million, according to Nielsen Music). The Colombian act first topped the list in 2015 when “Borro Cassette” spent three weeks at No. 1.
Steady weekly streams keep the track in the top five on Hot Latin Songs for a 13th (non-consecutive) week, logging 1.6 million U.S. streams in the week ending July 28 (down 10 percent). The song has amassed over 1 million domestic clicks per week for the last 12 straight weeks, across all monitored streaming providers. On YouTube, the video clip has gathered over 253 million global views since going live on April 22.
The track is off of Maluma’s Pretty Boy Dirty Boy (his first album released in the U.S.), which debuted at No. 1 on Top Latin Albums on the Nov. 21, 2015-dated chart.
Lil Jon Takes Off: Lil Jon earns his fifth entry on Hot Latin Songs, arriving at No. 48 with his Spanglish track “Take It Off,” featuring Yandel and Becky G. It’s the first time that Lil Jon has landed a hit on the Spanish-language chart as a lead act. His previous four charting visits were as a featured act on songs by Pitbull.
“Take It Off’s” debut on the airplay/sales/streams hybrid chart is driven mostly by its digital sales for the week: 4,000. The song concurrently bows at No. 4 on the Latin Digital Songs chart.
Most recently, Lil Jon reached No. 13 on the Hot Latin Songs chart last August as a featured act on Pitbull’s 2015 hit “El Taxi,” also featuring Sensato Del Patio, Black Point and El Cata.
Meanwhile, Becky G logs her third Hot Latin Songs hit with the arrival. Her current single “Sola” debuted on the July 16 dated chart and slips 41-46 this week. Meanwhile, Yandel earns his 16th hit as a solo act and 53rd career entry, including those as part of reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel.
India & Juan Gabriel Reach No. 1: Jumping 7-1 on Tropical Songs, India earns her 10th chart-topper with “Me Voy A Acostumbrar,” featuring Juan Gabriel (up 25 percent in spins at the format). It’s India’s second No. 1 this year, following “Dimelo,” which topped the Jan. 2-dated list.
The climb extends the salsa singer’s record for most No. 1s on the chart by a female act. She is trailed by Gloria Estefan, who holds seven crowning titles on the airplay chart.
“Acostumbrar” marks the first No. 1 on the Tropical Songs chart for Mexican pop superstar Juan Gabriel.
