
After teaming up with Latin superstars like Ricky Martin and Shakira to Brazilian rising star Anitta, it’s safe to say that Maluma became one of the most sought after artist for collaborations in 2016.
Below, Billboard rounds up some of Maluma’s most memorable collabs of 2016, including the record-breaking “Chantaje” with Shak.
Ricky Martin ft. Maluma “Vente Pa’Ca”: Ricky Martin and Maluma teamed up for one of the hottest collabs of summer 2016. Their upbeat reggaetón track “Vente Pa’Ca (Come Here),” gave Martin his 16th No. 1 single on Billboard’s Latin Airplay (and Maluma’s third).
Shakira ft. Maluma “Chantaje”: Ending the year on a high note, Shakira and Maluma’s sultry reggaetón “Chantaje” has become a record breaking song on YouTube becoming the Spanish language video to most quickly reach over 100 million views on the platform.
Leslie Grace ft. Maluma “Aire”: Leslie Grace and Maluma’s chemistry, musically and on-camera, is inevitable. After teaming up for “Tengo un amor” for Maluma’s Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy album, Leslie Grace tapped the Colombian artist for her new album’s first single “Aire.”
Sin Bandera ft. Maluma “Sobre mí”: Stepping out of their comfort zone, pop duo Sin Bandera surprised fans with a collab featuring the urban artist on their album Una Última Vez. Maluma and Sin Bandera performed the song during Maluma’s concert in Mexico City back in November.
Anitta ft. Maluma “Sim Ou Não”: Maluma’s collab with the Brazilian superstar came about thanks to requests made by fans on social media. “Fans started making collages of us together on social media and they were asking for a collaboration between us … I sent him the song ‘Sim Ou Não’ and asked him to sing it with me. He loved it and he wrote his part and we recorded it,” Anitta told Billboard in a previous interview.
Thalía ft. Maluma “Desde esa noche”: The Mexican singer’s “Desde esa noche” with Maluma is featured on her latest album titled Latina. The pop/urban track became Thalía’s 25th charting entry on Hot Latin Songs (chart dated March 5).
