Lupillo Rivera gets nostalgic in new single titled “La Ranchera,” a mariachi-infused banda track debuting exclusively on Billboard today (March 4).
The achingly sad tune finds a heartbroken Rivera drowning his sorrows after a bad breakup. “La Ranchera,” penned by Gera Demara, arrives alongside a music video where the visibly emotional regional Mexican singer looks back at the good and bad moments in his relationship. Eventually, the bad ones outweigh the good ones in his memory.
“La Ranchera” is Rivera’s first single under Z Records and Rancho Humilde, with whom he signed a record and management deal earlier this year.
The chart-topping artist recently spoke to Billboard about new projects dropping this year. According to Rivera, he will be releasing multiple albums throughout the year including a duets record, a 90s-inspired set and a tribute album to mariachi titan Vicente Fernández.
The corridos singer also made his debut as a host with interview-style show Época Pesada on Z Records’ YouTube channel, which premiered Feb. 16.
