Ricky Martin receives certification with “Fiebre”
Ricky Martin “Fiebre” featuring Wisin & Yandel has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The hit, which was released earlier this year, also hit No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart dated May 19. The song sold more than 65,000 units to earn the certification and the music clip has more than 78 million views. Also, on Thursday, the Office of the Mayor of New York proclaimed June 7 as Ricky Martin Day for his artistic legacy, commitment to eradicate human trafficking and his solidarity with Puerto Rico after the impact of hurricanes.
Carlos Vives to raise awareness about plastic pollution
Colombian singer Carlos Vives has joined the Plastic Oceans Foundation as a supporting ambassador and will raise awareness on the issue of plastic pollution. Vives is a devoted social and environmental activist that has been a leading voice on sustainability in Colombia. “Carlos is an example of a celebrity that actually walks the talk,” said Julie Andersen, global executive director of the Plastic Oceans Foundation. “His sincerity and passion for being part of the solution are second to none. We can’t thank him enough for his support and we look forward to having him join us in our efforts to raise the visibility on the need to rethink plastic at all levels.”
Descemer Bueno ready to wrap up European tour
Cuban singer/songwriter Descemer Bueno is ready to wrap up his European tour. Starting June 29, Descemer Bueno will resume his the tour in Madrid, with additional stops in the Netherlands, England, Italy, Belgium and various cities in Spain. Then, on September 22, he’ll be back to the U.S. to perform in Miami at the James L. Knight Center. Descemer Bueno recently released “Nos Fuimos Lejos” with Enrique Iglesias, featuring El Micha. Its music video has been viewed more than 37 million times.
Wisin y Yandel back at Madison Square Garden
Wisin y Yandel are officially back! The legendary urban duo performed at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Friday night, marking their first U.S. show since deciding to reunite for their Como Antes Tour. 50 Cent, Bad Bunny, Ozuna, J Balvin and Romeo Santos all made special appearances.
