On Tuesday (Sept. 29), the Latin Recording Academy unveiled the 2020 nominees for the 21st annual Latin Grammys. J Balvin leads the pack with 13 nominations, followed by Bad Bunny (9), Ozuna (8) and Anuel AA (7), positioning reggaeton in main categories such as album of the year and record of the year.
On his Instagram stories, Balvin shared the Spanish-language phrase “de los cobardes no se ha escrito nada,” which highlights the importance of taking risks in life. His next post celebrated his 13 nods, which, as previously noted by Billboard, “reflect a genre where collaborations flourish.”
Camilo, who is a six-time nominee, shared the exciting news through a video chat with his parents. “My mom is not joking, Evaluna changed my life,” he wrote, dedicating the nods to his wife and devoted fans, La Tribu.
With two nominations, Sebastian Yatra expressed his gratitude toward Juanes. “Last year I had the honor of singing in your Person of the Year tribute and now I don’t believe it that we are sharing two nominations! Thank you for making me part of this song,” he said.
Meanwhile, Argentine singer Nathy Peluso, also nominated in two categories, could not contain her excitement on social media. “I feel blessed, proud, grateful, and have infinite emotions,” she said. “So much work, so much passion dedicated with so much love for music, and being recognized in this way together with the love of all my fans and colleagues makes me feel like the most immense and happy person on the planet.”
