The Latin Recording Academy revealed Tuesday morning (April 9) a lot of exciting news in regards to the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards.
As part of its 20th anniversary celebration, organizers have transitioned the Latin Grammys red corporate logo to platinum, giving it a sleek and elegant upgrade for the event.
Designed by entertainment-branding firm Blanco-Lopez, the new branding features a precious metal that has a centuries-long relationship with the Americas because platinum was initially discovered in South America, according to an official statement.
“In addition to symbolizing successful music sales, and having long, historic ties to Latin America, platinum is known for being a malleable metal, more ductile than gold or silver, and a chemical catalyst,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., president/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. “Platinum is the perfect representation of the Latin GRAMMYs for the next decade, celebrating a type of music that has learned to adapt to changing instruments, cultures, local roots, and fragmented environments, while keeping its credibility and integrity; and, yes, it has proven itself to be a catalyst for significant trends in the overall music world. We are embracing this new branding whole-heartedly as we look forward to kicking off our third decade with this milestone 20th anniversary celebration.”
The Latin Recording Academy also announced that the three-hour telecast will return to Univision on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2019, airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
“Latin music has never been more popular and it continues to grow, delighting new audiences globally,” said Jessica Rodriguez, CMO of Univision Communications Inc. and president/COO of Univision Networks, in a statement. “This year’s special ‘platinum’ edition of the Latin GRAMMYs will be an unprecedented showcase of our roots, our culture and our rhythms, and it promises to be one of the best shows yet.”
The nominees for the 20th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be announced Tuesday, Sept. 24.
