In a world of hard-hitting reggaeton, Sech has managed to get on the Latin music scene with his soothing vocals, sensual urban fusion melodies, and lyrics that focus on romance, dreams and positive vibes.
Born Carlos Isaias Morales Williams in Panama, Sech has garnered the attention of big artists, including Nicky Jam and Maluma. But his beginnings are humble. He started as a street vendor who would croon people that walked by. Now, he’s becoming one of 2019’s promising artists.
“I don’t have a big trajectory,” he says to Billboard. “I’m practically a new artist but I’m working very hard and people are supporting my music. That’s the most important thing for me.”
He was discovered by music producer and compatriot Dimelo Flow after his hit “Miss Lonely” became a viral sensation in Colombia back in 2017. Sech is currently signed to Rich Music.
Under the label, the Panamanian artist dropped his debut studio album Sueños, which includes his remix to “Que Mas Pues?” featuring Maluma, Nicky Jam, Lenny Tavarez, Justin Quiles and Dalex.
The album, which dropped April 18, debuted at No. 8 on the Top Latin Albums chart dated May 4, mainly based on streams. It also debuted at No. 6 on the Latin Rhythm Albums chart dated May 4. This marks Sech’s first-ever chart entry.
For Sech, the journey has been a dream come true. “This is a very important moment for music in my country,” he says. “If things are going great for me, then many people might begin to explore the music industry in Panama. This is not only for me. I want the new generation of artists to see that everything is possible.”
