The 2019 Latin American Music Awards are just around the corner and Billboard is in full Latin AMAs mode.
Ozuna leads the pack for a second consecutive year with nine nods, including artist of the year, where he’s going head-to-head with nine of his respectable colleagues. In addition to the Puerto Rican artist, the nominees include Bad Bunny, Maluma, Romeo Santos, J Balvin, Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Liza?rraga, Christian Nodal, Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, and Karol G.
In the tradition of the American Music Awards, the Latin AMAs pay tribute to the top Latin artists in the market today, with fans voting for the ultimate winners. This year’s nominees are based on key fan interactions with music, including sales, airplay, streaming and social activity tracked by Billboard through its data partners Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound for data covering the periods of Aug. 10, 2018, through July 18, 2019.
Billboard celebrates the 10 musicians nominated for artist of the year this year by highlighting each of their most-watched music videos below.
The fifth annual Latin AMAs will air live at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Oct. 17, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The awards show will be preceded by a one-hour red carpet pre-show called “La Alfombra de Latin AMAs,” kicking off at 7 p.m. ET.
