Vice President Kamala Harris made a special appearance at the 33rd annual Premio Lo Nuestro on Thursday night (Feb. 18).
In the middle of the awards show, the VP addressed viewers virtually sending out a message of hope while thanking Latin artists for their music.
“Tonight we celebrate the Latino artists of our nation and our world,” Harris began. “In a time of so much uncertainty, so much loss, your music has brought us solace and strength. As we work to beat this virus and rebuild our economy, we need that spirit of hope that artists inspire. We need that spirit of resilience that frontline workers demonstrate each and every day and we need that spirit of unity that keeps our communities together even when times are tough.”
She continued, “Doing your part is the best prize. So thank you to Univision, thank you to the musicians and artists. and thank you all for being the change.”

The first Latin awards show of 2021 featured star-studded performances by Maluma, Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee, Marc Anthony and Camilo, among others.
Special awards were given out to Gloria Trevi (Premio La Trayectoria), Los Ángeles Azules (Musical Legacy Award) and Wisin (Excellence Award), and heartfelt tributes were shared for late icons Armando Manzanero and Johnny Pacheco.
The 2021 Premio Lo Nuestro aired live from Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena via Univision with Chiquinquirá Delgado, José Ron and Yuri as hosts of the three-hour show.
