Billed as the “miniseries of the summer,” Univision announced a premiere date of June 27 for Joan Sebastian‘s biographical miniseries titled Por Siempre Joan Sebastian.
Starred by José Manuel Figueroa, who transformed into his father to play the “role of a lifetime,” the miniseries will explore the late singer’s humble beginnings in his rancho in Juliantla, Guerrero to eventually becoming “El Rey del Jaripeo.”
Por Siempre Joan Sebastian is produced by Carla Estrada. Other cast members include Livia Brito as Sebastian’s ex-wife Maribel Guardia, and Julián Figueroa — Guardia and Sebastian’s son — will portray his father in his adolescent years.

The chart-topping Mexican singer-songwriter died July 13 after a long battle with cancer. His musical legacy includes some of the most beautiful and romantic songs in Latin music, including “Amorcito mío,” “Más allá del sol,” “El primer tonto,” “Secreto de amor” and “Eso y más.”
