Jessie Reyez has been vocal on the social injustices that have directly impacted Black people, and back in June, she marched in Toronto in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I hope that my message is having an impact,” the Canadian-Colombian singer-songwriter told Billboard on the red carpet of the the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards. “You can drop a seed, but you don’t know what way it’ll grow, so I hope that I’m making an impact and I’m resonating with people.
Reyez, who teamed up with Reik to perform “Lo Intenté Todo” during the show, also sent out a clear message to eligible voters, particularly undecided voters. “Open your eyes. It might be a scam, but what if it’s not? You might as well vote. And make the right decision.
