Earlier this week, J Balvin shared the dates for his Arcoiris U.S. tour with fans. After the announcement, many people have been wondering why he named the tour “arcoiris” — which translated into English means rainbow.
Well, J Balvin is a huge fan of pop art. In the past, he has collected or commissioned characters and jewelry from artists like Kaws and Takashi Murakami. Now, he wants to fuse his passion for pop art with his music.
According to J Balvin’s representative, the new Arcoiris Tour concept is the result of a partnership with Friends With You (whose co-founder is Arturo Sandoval Jr.), the creators behind the character “Little Cloud,” which uses bright colors and rainbow imagery. (See the “Little Cloud” float in last year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to get a better idea.) Balvin expanded the partnership after his Coachella performance.
The Arcoiris Tour is produced by Live Nation and will have Balvin stopping in 25 cities. The shows will start August 30 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
