The case is steadily building for 2015 being the year of J Balvin. The Colombian breakout star, fresh off his collaboration with Justin Bieber on the “Sorry (Latino Remix),” will unite the worlds of Latin urban with EDM and electro-pop in a joint performance with Major Lazer and MO at Thursday’s Latin Grammy Awards (Nov. 19). Puerto Rican reggaeton idol Farruko will join them onstage from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas for a Latin-flavored rendition of this year’s mega-hit “Lean On.”
In other J Balvin news, Vevo has anointed the reggaeton star, who is nominated twice this year for Latin Grammys — best urban performance and best urban song, both for “Ay Vamos” — the platform’s “most watched Latin artist of 2015.” The video for his latest single “Ginza” recently became the fastest Spanish-language video to reach 100 million views.
Other acts set to hit the stage together on Latin music’s biggest night include Pablo Alborán with Julión Alvarez, Fifth Harmony with Maluma, Bomba Estéreo and Will Smith, and Nicky Jam and OMI.
Univision will air the Latin Grammys on Nov. 19 live from Las Vegas.
