J Balvin has joined Colombia’s Cerveza Aguila to take the beer to another level. The concept of the ad is evolving without losing one’s essence, so the beer brand joined forces with the singer to create an urban version of one of salsa’s biggest dance songs: “La Rebelión” by Joe Arroyo.
Musically, the brand wants to show the world that Colombia has many powerful icons who are still valid. “We put together two musical generations with this beautiful project,” J Balvin tells Billboard. “With [producer] Sky, we looked for the right color to make a trap version of Arroyo’s best hit.”
This union represents a tribute to Arroyo, who died in 2011 but remains one of the great beacons of Colombian music worldwide. The song was produced by Sky, who for several years has been responsible for making J Balvin’s hits.
“The fact of being able to represent Colombia for me is a great responsibility, I enjoyed it very much,” Balvin adds.
