If you were one of the millions who tuned into Tuesday’s Game 6 of the 2016 World Series, you probably caught at least one of J Balvin‘s three Buchanan’s Whisky 30-second commercial spots that aired during the Cubs vs. Indians’ penultimate game.
It’s the first time ever the whisky brand aired a Spanish-language television spot on a national broadcast. The video — with English subtitles — featuring the reggaeton superstar ran on Fox’s live broadcast between the sixth and seventh innings and once again between 10 and 11 p.m. ET.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Chicago Cubs’ 9-3 victory over the Cleveland Indians averaged a 14.8 rating among metered market households — attracting over 20 million viewers.
The TV spot is part of Buchanan’s “Es Nuestro Momento (It’s Our Moment)” campaign, billed as a celebration of Hispanic culture. It also marks the first time Buchanan’s has partnered with a major recording artist for one of their most ambitious marketing campaigns to date.
“Who are we? We are one and the stage is ours. We’re an undeniable force, and nothing will stop us. It’s our time,” the “Safari” singer says in the clip. The powerful video will air again Wednesday night (Nov. 2) during Game 7 — one time on Fox and three times during Fox Deportes’ broadcast.
