
After months battling with a Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma diagnosis that had him hospitalized for several weeks, Gustavo Márquez, the bass player of Venezuela’s C4 Trio, died at 28 years old.
He passed away of the cancer May 14 after a <a href=”/articles/columns/latin/8247589/latin-grammy-winners-c4-trio-donations-bass-player-cancer”>campaign</a> in which the Latin Grammy-winning ensemble reached out to followers and fans to ask them to help support his medical expenses.
Before joining C4 Trío, Márquez worked alongside an impressive list of Venezuelan artists throughout his career, including Leo Blanco, Desorden Público, Yordano, Federico Ruiz, Orquesta Latino Caribeña Simón Bolívar, Eddy Marcano, Hernán Gamboa, Ivan García, VIVO el musical, Chicago el musical, Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela, Orquesta Teresa Carreño, Orquesta de Música Venezolana Simón Bolivar, Banda Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, Orquesta Nacional de Flautas, Gerry Weil and Andrés Briceño.
