Fonseca‘s beautifully crafted Conexión earned him a Grammy nomination for best tropical Latin album, such recognition by the Recording Academy is already a dream come true for the Colombian singer/songwriter.
“Since I was a kid I remember watching the Grammy’s and looking at those people that I really admired,” the Latin Grammy-winning artist says in a video for Billboard‘s new Grammy video series. “To be here nominated for a Grammy is a dream come true. In some way I already feel like I have won.”
Fonseca gushes on his Latin Grammy nominated album calling it the “most eclectic album” he’s done in his career. “I go around different sounds, different genres apart from the Colombian or Latin sounds that I’ve been working with throughout my career. It was a beautiful process to make this album. When you listen to it you go through different colors musically speaking,” he adds.
He found out about his nomination while he was in his hometown Bogotá where he was playing a concert the day he found out. “We were able to celebrate that night with the band and the whole team.”
And who is Fonseca rooting for at the Grammy’s? “I would love to see my friends from Mexico Jesse & Joy win. I think they are great musicians and great composers.”
