The new take comes on the heels of the massive success the track — one of Billboard’s best songs of 2021 (so far) — has amassed on digital platforms and social media, especially TikTok.
“It’s part of a generation,” artists-producers Los Legendarios told Billboard. “Today, there are many good songs, but they don’t become immortal. We are at a time in music when the fans demand more and more tracks. We don’t think it should be that way. We are giving ‘Fiel’ space for that reason … because we want it to become a classic.”
Now, the edgy reggaetón counts with a remix by Puerto Rican stars Anuel and Towers, who add their distinct flow and witty verses to a now, six minute-long version.
In a new music video, at the helm of director Navs from Compostela Films, the viral TikTok dance is incorporated by a group of dancers as Cortez performs his part.
“Everyone talked about Jhay’s verse. It happened organically. Somebody, can’t remember who right now, did the dance and it began to trend,” Los Legendarios recalled of the trending challenge. “Of course, these types of challenges form part of a strategic plan but that wasn’t the case here. The people made it viral.”
“Fiel Remix” landed at No. 21 on YouTube’s trending for music page at the time of launch.
