The urban genre has always been criticized for using obscene words and denigrating women in lyrics. But Puerto Rican singer Farruko goes back to his musical roots on his new single “Nadie” to show that urban music can also carry a good message. And on Thursday (Jan. 17), Billboard is exclusively premiering the “Nadie” video.
“Nadie” is a song that encourages anyone to get ahead in life regardless of the situation or the people around them.
“It’s a song that tells my personal story,” Farruko tells Billboard. “It’s about that circle in which you get trapped and you have no way out. Maybe for the love to a person or friends and you can’t say no.”
Farruko didn’t tease or announce the new song to his fans — he wanted to surprise them by releasing the video on Billboard. The clip was directed by Fernando Lugo.
