It’s been a rough few weeks for Enrique Iglesias. First he slices his hand with a camera drone, and now the “El Perdón” singer is reportedly due in court July 10 to contest misdemeanor charges of obstruction without violence and driving with a suspended license.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol obtained by NBC Miami, the alleged incident occurred in Miami-Dade County, where Iglesias lives, on May 6. The Spanish heartthrob is said to have been driving northbound along Interstate 95 in a closed express lane when he was pulled over by a trooper. The arrest affidavit cited by NBC Miami states that as they were getting pulled over, Iglesias and his passenger, identified as Iglesias’ tour manager Abel Tabuyo, switched seats in the Cadillac Escalade. Both Iglesias and Tabuyo were handcuffed and Iglesias reportedly invoked his Miranda rights (also known as “the right to remain silent”). The two were later released after agreeing to appear in court and both allegedly pled not guilty to the charges.

The good news is Iglesias is slowly recovering from his hand injury, which occurred May 30 in Tijuana, Mexico. Following the incident, Iglesias was treated in Los Angeles and underwent reconstructive surgery. He made his return to the stage this past weekend in a special concert for U.S. troops at Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.
