Latin superstar Romeo Santos took to social media to celebrate Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s “Despacito” hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (chart dated May 27).
“All Latin artists should feel proud about this success,” the “Héroe favorito” singer wrote (in Spanish). “Congratulations Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee. This is big.”

“Despacito’s” chart achievement is worthy of celebration in Latin music history. The track featuring Justin Bieber becomes the first mostly Spanish-language song to peak at No. 1 since Los Del Río’s “Macarena” dominated the charts back in 1996.
Rising 3-1, the monster hit crowns the Hot 100, Fonsi and Yankee’s first-ever No. 1 on the chart and makes Bieber the first artist to have new No. 1’s in back-to-back weeks.
