Our latest pick for Billboard’s Latin artist On the Rise is singer and songwriter David Alfaro.
The “No es fácil” singer grew up listening to only English and Spanish religious music, but after hearing Sin Bandera‘s “Te vi venir,” realized that he wanted to sing and write Spanish music. “In high school I listened to Sin Bandera and that completely changed my life. When I heard it I thought, wow I didn’t know Spanish music could sound so beautiful,” Alfaro told Billboard.
After recording his first songs on an iPhone and arranging them on the app GarageBand to later send out to producers, Alfaro released his first EP Íntimo Phase I under Sway Sounds earlier this year. “It hasn’t been easy for me, I had really strict parents and had to take classes to perfect my Spanish, but I knew this is what I wanted to do.”
