Reggaeton star Daddy Yankee, who is a finalist for seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, has signed on to appear on a new mun2 unscripted show “Combate Americas” about the lives of the Mix Martial Arts fighters.
Details of the series were announced during a press conference Friday in Las Vegas where some of the cast and executives of the show were introduced, including Yankee as “the Commissioner.”

While the focus of the show revolves around the lives of the fighters, others have signed on to appear on the program including Chino y Nacho, the Venezuelan rapping duo.
The event at the Venetian Las Vegas also included the participation of Campbell McLaren, co-creator of the UFC and CEO of Combate Americas; Diana Mogollon, executive VP and GM of mun2; Royce Gracie, UFC1 Champion and hall of fame honoree; and “Combate Americas” cast members Danny Morales and JC Llamas.
Mun2 Seeks ‘Young, Authentic and Latino’ Talent
Yankee, according to a mun2 spokesperson, wanted to be part of the series to show his support of youth trying to make a difference in their lives. The entertainer, who has more than 6.5 million followers on Twitter, is a regular on the Billboard charts. His summer hit “Limbo” is up for Digital Song of the Year and Latin Pop Song of the Year. The Billboard Latin Music Awards take place in Miami on April 24.
The series, from the Latin division of Bunim/Murray Productions, will consist of 10 hour-long episodes. “Combate Americas” is the first Spanish-language Mixed Martial Arts competition, which will trail several fighters as they compete for a spot in the franchise.

“Mun2 is excited to continue to offer viewers a look inside the sport of MMA,” Mogollon said in an earlier statement. “No one has followed the world of Hispanic fighters through the process of making it into an MMA franchise.”
